Trans Germany, GER

Date: 01.06.2011 – 04.06.2011

Description: Marathon Stage Race

4 stages, 330km, 8366m of climbing, 11.05hrs overall time
Two stage wins, first place overall, 1.13min ahead of Alban Lakata

I realized it again how much I like stage racing. Action every day, although the 20min of deep suffering on day three I would not have mind to miss out on it!

The only two days of recovery in between the world cup in Offenburg and the start of the Trans Germany was luckily enough, although I could feel that I was not as juicy as last year, when I started the race with a nice rest the week before.

Also this year I won two stages and had around the same overall lead to Alban Lakata.
On day three I completely underestimated a never ending steep tar climb. I cracked before the top, and then on a super fast 40/11 pedalling section out of a valley which was more then 20km long, I had to get all my trialling strengt together plus I also had to do strong mental talking to myself for to chase the lost time back. Luckily there was a small kicker climb, and after that I was safe in Albans slipstream!
I was expecting Alban on the attack on the last day again, but not so many times! It is great to race against him, but only if you are feeling well. My legs were spinning light and fast on the last day and i really enjoyed my win here!
