Description: XCO Qualification Race for Olympics
1 start plus 6 laps, 1.28h racing time
11th place, 2.03min behind winner Nino Schurter
I more and less had a perfect week behind me. I worked more on my start and it definitely payed off. It was the first time this season I stayed up front, but unfortunately I had two mini crashed still in the first start loop and I lost a few places before the windy flat start/finish section. After that I was more and less racing with José Hermida and Sergio Mantecon for 9th place. In one of the last climbs I dropped my chain and the two were gone.
XCO racing became soooo fast! It is also due the super short races now. After the last two races which were 1.30h, today we even were under the UCI rule which should be in between 1.30-1.45h. This makes it very difficult for me, since the top 20 can put fast laps together from the first to the last one. Zero tactics any more! If you lose 5seconds before a flat section it is almost a guarantee you can not close it any more.
Now it will be super difficult for me to still qualify for the Olympics. I seriously need to do something special next weekend!
